The Orione Seva Food Fest stands as a vibrant expression of charity, collaboration, and communion, deeply rooted in the charism of the Sons of Divine Providence. Orione Seva, the charitable arm of the Congregation, continues to embody the spirit of compassionate service initiated by our Founder, reaching out to the poor and the needy through concrete acts of love.
As part of its annual Christmas fundraising initiatives, Orione Seva, in collaboration with the Oriyone Day Movement, organized a joyful and meaningful Food Fest on Sunday, 14th December, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Food Fest was a truly charismatic family initiative, bringing together fathers, brothers, seminarians, members of the Orione Day Movement, lay collaborators, volunteers, and college students from nearby institutions. Around 30 committed volunteers worked tirelessly behind the scenes, while over 300 people participated in the event, making it a lively and grace-filled evening.
The event featured a rich blend of food stalls, raffle tickets, House games, music, dance performances, DJ sessions, and other engaging activities. These elements not only created a festive Christmas atmosphere but also served as a powerful medium to convey the mission and works of Orione Seva to a wider public.
The Food Fest had two clear and meaningful objectives.
Firstly, it aimed to express and promote the charitable mission of Orione Seva through an event that was joyful, inclusive, and participatory. Rather than speaking only about charity, the event allowed people to experience it through encounter, sharing, and involvement.
Secondly, it served as a fundraising initiative, inviting people during the Christmas season a time of joy, generosity, and gratitude to contribute meaningfully towards the works of charity and support those in need. The actual work began a month ago with preparation. Every year the dynamics of doing this event is increasing in creativity.
A special mention must be made of the Orione Day Movement, whose initiative and leadership were central to the success of the event. Their collaboration with the religious community in a special with Fr. Avinash and Fr. Sunil reflects the beauty of shared responsibility and co-mission, where lay faithful and consecrated persons walk together in service. The event also became a platform where benefactors, volunteers, and well-wishers could see firsthand the impact of the charitable works they support.
More than a fundraising event, the Orione Seva Food Fest became a space of encounter bringing us closer to the poor, to those in need, to those who serve, and to those who support. It strengthened bonds within the Orione family and offered a living testimony of how charity, when lived joyfully and collaboratively, becomes a powerful witness of hope.
In celebrating Christmas through such initiatives, Orione Seva once again reaffirmed its commitment to making the joy of the season inclusive, ensuring that it reaches beyond celebration to transformation, beyond festivity to solidarity, and beyond giving to shared love in action
