Orione Seva successfully hosted an impactful Women’s Day 2025 celebration at Maria Sadan, emphasizing women’s rights, legal awareness, child protection, and empowerment. The event brought together 30 women, including staff members and beneficiaries of the Thayi Project, and featured inspiring sessions by Lady Sub-Inspector Ms. Saraswarthi Sadhanada and BOSCO’s Child Counsellor Ms. Merciline Dsouza.

Women’s Rights and Legal Protection: Insights from a Lady Sub-Inspector

Ms. Saraswarthi Sadhanada, Lady Sub-Inspector of Kothanur Police Station, shared her inspiring journey in law enforcement, emphasizing women’s rights, legal awareness, and safety measures. She highlighted POCSO Awareness, stressing the rise in child abuse cases and the importance of proactive child protection. Through an interactive Q&A session, she urged women to prioritize safety, monitor children’s activities, and stay informed about child marriage prevention laws.
Child Protection and Social Work

Ms. Merciline Dsouza, child counsellor BOSCO, highlighted the challenges faced by migrant mothers, particularly in areas with high child marriage rates. She emphasized the psychological and legal consequences of child marriage, stressing the need for child protection and women’s safety. Her interactive session enabled participants to discuss POCSO awareness, child marriage prevention, and community awareness, reinforcing the importance of women’s leadership in social work and the power of legal education.

Fr. Vijaya Bhasker honored the speakers with hand bags made by Thayi Project women, symbolizing empowerment and self-reliance. The event ended with a joyful cultural celebration, reinforcing women’s leadership and unity. Fr.
